Apel pomocy dla Bartka

AN APPEAL TO HELP BARTEK!

Please read this letter. Maybe it will be Bartek who you will be willing to help one day (on a special occasion or just from the need in your hearts...). Maybe at Christmas time you will experience this need in your heart to help someone and maybe it will be Bartek who is lucky this time.

The disease, cystic fibrosis, which Bartek suffers from, is genetically conditioned and is incurable. By doing thorough symptoms therapy, which is very expensive in Poland, Bartek may be kept in a generally good condition. Unfortunately, the costs related to the therapy, due to the National Health Insurance not covering most kinds of medicine, allow for only a selective realisation of the doctor's advice.

As of today the only breadwinner in our family is my husband who can hardly make ends meet each month. Unfortunately, I cannot undertake a permanent job as Bartek requires special attention: inhalations, draining, frequent check ups and a great number of medications that have to be administered on a daily basis. Whenever I have time I get busy doing craft work. We earn too little to buy Bartek Aerugen- a vaccine against pseudomonas aeruginoza, a bacteria that is lethal to him in case of its colonisation.

Bartek's last stay in hospital lasted a month due to the infection with this bacteria. During that time our elder children, Kamila who is 8 years old and Mateusz who is just 5, were looked after by other people, while both my husband and I took turns staying with Bartek in hospital. The children missed us very much, and maybe even more so because it was in the middle of their summer holiday. Each time Bartek has to stay in hospital is a very difficult period for our family.

Having lived through this experience, we decided to do our best to help Bartek. We mustn't wait until his condition gets worse. The vaccine, which we are about to buy, has to be repeated every year and will protect him from 90% of the infections. We are convinced that the amount of 11 thousand złotys (approx. 2,000 pounds / 3,500 USD) is realistic and we are counting on any amount help from your side.

Payment to the bank account of the Association is only accepted with the note "Bartosz Portee".

Please pray for a medicine to be invented to fight cystic fibrosis. Why? Look for an answer in the Bible: Sirach 38 1,4, 1 Peter 4:1-2. We have hope in God and people of good will. We believe that a group of helpful friends will help make our struggle successful.
